Force Closes on BarTor? There are some folks getting force closes on Open of BarTor. This appears to be an issue with database creation that only occurs for some users. Please delete the database located at "/sdcard/nEx.Software/BarTor/data.db" and reopen BarTor to fix. This should only have to be done once. We are looking into why this is happening for some users. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Our newest platform is the outstanding Google Android Mobile Platform. This newcomer to the mobile world has great promise and is in a position to really shake things up. Anybody not already looking into this platform should be.
We currently have one application available for free in the Android Market: Insurance Pro. This is a simple insurance cancellation calculator. Features include Annual and Short Term Policies, Pro-Rata and Short Rate Calculations. There are still some features we would like to implement but have been busy with other projects. Some of these features include: Minimum Earned Premium, and Fully Earned Premium (where certain coverages are Fully Earned while others are not), and Mid-Term Endorsement calculations. This is a niche tool, but we think it provides a good free alternative to much more expensive solutions.
We've released our second application in the Android Market: BarTor. This application is in response to an interesting concept posed by http://www.androidandme.com whereas an idea is be proposed to developers following the bounty hunter method in that the first developer to produce a working app that meets the criteria receives a bounty. The amount of the bounty depends on pledges by users or potential users who would like to see the application be created. While we were, unfortunately, not able to produce an application first, we had decided to continue development of our entry for future release. The future is now
UPDATE: BarTor has been featured on AndroidAndMe.
They've even done a video:
So, as we are sure you are all wondering, what is BarTor?
BarTor is an application which, mainly as a proof of concept, allows one to scan the barcode of a product, search online (specifically, http://www.isoHunt.com) for torrent downloads related to that product, and then to send a found torrent to one's computer running a BitTorrent client with a Web Interface. currently, only uTorrent is supported but we plan to also support Vuze (formerly Azureus), and possibly others we learn of.
Note: We do not condone piracy. We will not be responsible for any illegal usage of this application. Use the Barcode scanner to search for products you intend to purchase through the included Google Base Products Search. We intend to add additional sources (such as Yahoo Product Search and eBay Search) in the near future. Use the "Search By Title" manual entry function to search for legal downloads such as Linux distributions or other open source or otherwise freely available content. There are plenty of legal downloads out there. Look for things listed as open source, creative commons, or otherwise identified as legally downloadable.
